Biography: Matthew Garvey, DNP, MBA, RN
Matthew P. Garvey is the owner and operator of Garvey Consulting & Education Services, L.L.C., a legal nurse consulting firm dedicated to providing comprehensive medical-legal analysis and expert consultation services to law firms and healthcare organizations. With over a decade of experience across some of the most demanding healthcare environments in the country, Matthew brings a depth of knowledge that is rarely matched in the legal nurse consulting field. His clinical background spans emergency nursing, critical care, trauma, progressive care, medical-surgical care, travel nursing, float pool, and dedicated rapid response nursing. His leadership experience spans acute care nursing leadership, long-term care nursing leadership, hospital operations, patient logistics, and healthcare finance. Aside from his entrepreneurial journey, Matthew currently works as an Emergency Department Utilization Management Specialist and as Adjunct Faculty in a Doctoral Nursing Program, where he shapes the next generation of healthcare policy leaders.
Matthew's academic credentials are equally distinguished. He holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice and Master of Nursing in Executive Nursing Administration from the University of South Alabama, a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from Western Governors University, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Western Kentucky University. He is also currently pursuing his Juris Doctor at the University of Dayton, further deepening his ability to bridge the worlds of medicine and law. His certifications include Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) and Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), reflecting his mastery across multiple high-acuity clinical specialties.

I would be remiss if I did not take time to thank my AMAZING family and support system. It is no secret that raising a child takes a village. What you see in this photo is my amazing mother on the right and my amazing aunt on the left. This photo was taken at my DNP graduation.
